History
The beginning of the Polish Fishery Society has its origin in the Pomeranian Fishery Society from Bydgoszcz acting in the II Republic of Poland. It was a part of the Association of the Republic of Poland Fishing Organizations liquidated in 1949.
The Great Poland-Pomeranian Fishery Society was reactivated on 19 April 1991 by fishermen and employees of inland fishery in the hall of the Voivodeship Office in Poznań. The initial number of 172 members has risen very quickly including interested fish breeders from all over the country. This situation caused that on 25 May 1993 Great Poland-Pomeranian Fishery Society was converted by the Special Delegates Convention to Polish Fishery Society in Poznań, registered by the Regional Court on 28 September 1993.
The Society associate 650 fish farming members, lessees, owners and fishing employees. It possesses its Standard and publishes its bimonthly “ Przegląd Rybacki” (Fishing Review)
